About the Position

Our client, a Cape Town based investment manager, that specializes in high-yield credit lending, private equity transactions and related advisory is looking for a Financial Accountant/Deal Support and Execution candidate to join their team.

At a minimum, a candidate would be required to have at least 3 years' experience in financial accounting and previous exposure to financial services, specifically credit lending, leveraged finance or investment banking would be a distinct advantage.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Financial reporting for various investment cluster entities as they are to be structured
  • Ensuring that financial records are maintained which are comprehensive, up to date, accurate and meet legal and regulatory requirements
  • Management and statutory financial reporting
  • Managing journals
  • Managing payments
  • Nett asset value (NAV) modeling
  • Investment performance reporting and fund level reporting
  • Management and maintenance of board packs
  • Managing of audit process
  • Tax compliance
  • Project management of specific financial cluster initiatives throughout the year
  • Stakeholder management and engagement with specific focus on supporting business strategy and involvement in various business initiatives/deals
  • Management of budget process
  • Building, maintaining and adjusting financial models for deal flow
  • Analyzing data and financial statements and creating forecasts
  • Developing presentations, IMs and pitch-books for internal and external stakeholders
  • Supporting the process of due diligence, deal structuring and negotiations

Qualifications and Experience required:

  • 3+ years' experience in a financial accounting role, preferably within a credit lending, leveraged finance or investment banking environment
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, CA(SA)
  • Solid mastery of financial analysis, modelling and valuation work with minimal oversight
  • Strong ability to be able to create high-impact presentation materials using PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Strong interpersonal & communication (written and oral) skills
  • Team player with the ability to build effective relationships with management teams and other intermediaries and colleagues
  • Ability to maintain elevated level of productivity and efficiency
  • Manage priorities while working on a number of high priority opportunities simultaneously
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong individual initiative with the ability to take a proactive approach to assigned projects
  • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • A willingness to continuously learn
